I hope you have had an amazing spring break! We look forward to welcoming our students back tomorrow, April 17th.
This coming week is Volunteer Appreciation Week. We would like to thank our amazing PTO and all of our volunteers for all you do to support our school!
We will be having a 5th Grade Family Night out for all of our 5th grade families this Thursday, April 20th, from 5-6pm here at Emerald Hill. If you have a 5th grader and have questions about the middle school transition, we hope you join us on April 20th where we will have staff from the middle school and community members available to answer questions. Food will be provided and we will watch kids (5 and older) while you can ask questions and learn more. Every 5th grader that attends the event will receive a copy of the book “Surviving Middle School” and will also be placed in a drawing for gift cards and games.
On Saturday, April 22nd, Culpeper County Public Schools will be hosting a job fair at our CTEC building from 9am to noon. If you’ve ever been interested in working at our amazing school, in any capacity, I’d love for you to come out to the job fair and have a conversation about current job opportunities.

There is a limit to tickets being sold so please make sure to purchase tickets early to ensure your child(ren) is able to attend.
We will be hosting our kindergarten orientation Thursday, April 27, from 5:30-6:15. If you have a child that will be attending Emerald Hill next school year as a kindergartner, we hope you can join the event.

Our PTO will be having their monthly meeting on Thursday, April 6th at 3:15pm here at Emerald Hill. All parents are welcome.

The EHE drama club treated our students to a preview of Alice in Wonderland this morning! We invite all of our Emerald Hill students and families to join us this Friday at 6:00 PM to enjoy the show!

Our PTO will be having a spirit night at Little Caesars tomorrow, March 27th. We hope you are able to join us to enjoy a yummy meal with your family.
Also, our amazing PTO has been participating in a fundraiser through Joe Corbi. The orders for that fundraiser are due tomorrow. Thank you for supporting our PTO!
Our SCA has voted on our next spirit day, Bring a Stuffed Animal to School Day. Students may bring a stuffed animal to school on Friday, March 31st.

We have our Spring Dental Clinic on April 21st. If you would like your child to participate in the dental clinic, please fill out the form that was sent home before Friday, March 31st.

3rd grade students reviewed polygon vocabulary with "Walk the Shape." They went outside and walked the perimeter of polygons drawn on the blacktop with chalk. They counted the sides and said "VERTEX" when they got to a corner.
Ms. Thomas' 4th grade class enjoyed lessons on plant structures and functions. They finished the week off by doing experiments on plant dissection and how water travels through the xylem.

We have our Spring Picture Day this coming Thursday, March 23rd. Order forms were sent home last week. If you need an additional order form, please contact your child’s teacher and we can send another one home.
Quarter 3 report cards will be sent home on Friday, March 24th.
Thinking towards next school year, in order to develop classes that are well rounded, we unfortunately are not able to take specific teacher requests. However, we will accept emails letting us know if there is any information about your child’s learning style that you would like us to consider. Please send any email requests to me by May 1st.

Congratulations to our 4th grade student, Kyle Peterson Tapia, for winning the Culpeper Branch NAACP 2023 Black History Month Essay Contest.
Kyle chose to write about Ms. Thomas, his teacher, as the African American who has positively impacted him.

Our annual STEM night is this coming Thursday, March 16th, from 5-6:30pm. We hope to see you and your family at STEM Night to enjoy the fun and learning.
Students do not have school this coming Friday, March 17th. Our teachers have a Teacher Workday to finalize grades and work on report cards. Report cards will be coming home the next week.
Looking ahead, our spring picture day will be March 23rd. A flier with more information will be coming home soon.
Culpeper County Public Schools Prekindergarten and Kindergarten registration opens up for the 2023-2024 school year this coming Wednesday, March 15th. If you have questions about Prekindergarten or Kindergarten registration please feel free to call the school and we can assist you.
Mark your calendar for the Culpeper Maker Energy Faire on Saturday, March 18, at the Culpeper Technical Education Center from 10am to 2pm. This is a free family-friendly event with hands-on activities for all ages. A flier for the fun event was sent home last week.
The Special Education Advisory Committee is meeting on Tuesday, March 14, at 6:30pm in the Studio at Culpeper County High School. This is a wonderful time to meet with other families and staff to ask questions.

Mrs. Guinn's 5th grade class used Snap Circuit kits in science to practice making different kinds of circuits for their electricity unit. Students did a great job working together and were able to read diagrams to help them build some really cool and complex circuits!
