Emerald Hill Elementary School proudly offers an Alumni Achievement Scholarship to honor former students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and involvement in their school community. Last night at the Culpeper County High School Convocation, Dr. Gelbert had the privilege of presenting Amelia Derby with the $500 scholarship in recognition of her achievements and her strong connection to Emerald Hill’s values.

As part of the application, students were asked to reflect on their time at Emerald Hill and share about a staff member who made a lasting impact on their journey. Amelia wrote:

“Emerald Hill set me up for success academically, and the impact the music teacher, Mrs. Ter Weele, made led me to a life of creativity and performance. I carry her passion with mine, and I hope to spend the rest of my life sharing it with others just as it was shared with me, joyfully.”

These words are a beautiful reminder of the lasting impact our educators and the arts in schools have on our students, not only in the classroom, but in shaping who they become.

A special thank you to our PTO for funding this scholarship and continuing to support opportunities that celebrate the success of our students. Congratulations to Amelia and all of the 2026 graduates!

Shout-out to 4th grade SCA member Sarah H. for getting things done! 👏

As a representative for her all of our Emerald Hill Eagles, Sarah took initiative to fix something that had been bothering her since 2nd grade - two tetherball poles that sat unused for years. She worked with our amazing bookkeeper Mrs. Kimble to order new equipment. Yesterday, she enlisted Mr Foster's help, grabbed a ladder, and finally hung brand new tetherballs so our 2nd graders can enjoy them again.

Way to lead, Sarah! Your voice, initiative, and kindness are making a difference!💚🤍

📚✨ Published authors at Emerald Hill! ✨📚
Each year, Mrs. Burgh’s third grade class takes on an exciting challenge—writing and publishing their very own book together!

To celebrate their hard work, creativity, and teamwork, students enjoyed a special “author celebration” where they received copies of the books they helped create. There is nothing better than seeing their ideas come to life in print!

We are so proud of these young authors and the dedication they showed throughout the process. Way to go, third grade! đź’š
