Fourth grade went to Mountain Run Lake Park yesterday for their Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience field trip! Students participated in stations to learn and explore watersheds. They retrieved macro invertebrates (and other organisms) from a creek bed and determined the pollution level based on what they found. They also classified and named them using dichotomous keys. Students also identified producers, consumers, and decomposers during a relay race. Finally, they designed storm drain art to bring awareness to the importance of keeping our watershed healthy. Shout out to Culpeper 4H for leading our students through a watershed simulation to learn more about watersheds and demonstrate how we all live downstream! It was a great day!

Attention Yowell 5th Grade Parents! If you’ve had a fifth grader at Yowell before, you know how much we enjoy honoring our outgoing fifth graders and celebrating all of their accomplishments. Each year we do this by creating a slideshow that includes one baby or toddler picture of each fifth grader. We would love your help in getting this project started. Please send in a baby/ toddler picture of your child for this presentation by April 11th. Any pictures received after this date may not be included in the slideshow. There are two ways that you can share your child’s baby picture. (Preferred Method) Email the picture to Mrs. Dugger, our school ITRT, at kdugger@ccpsweb.org. Please include your child's name and their teacher’s name in the email and use “5th grade baby picture” as the subject. You can use your smartphone to snap a picture of a picture. No need to get fancy. You can send in the actual baby picture so it can be scanned. Please label the back with your child’s name and their teacher’s name. These will be returned to your child as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Dugger at kdugger@ccpsweb.org.
No necesita complicarse.
