Students with outstanding attendance during the first part of the school year were entered into a special drawing — and one lucky student from each homeroom was selected to “Chalk the Walk!” 🖍️✨ These winners helped spread positivity by decorating our sidewalks with colorful messages and designs celebrating learning, friendship, and school spirit.
👏 Great job to all of our students for showing up and shining bright each day!
🌟 October Attendance Challenge: The homeroom with the best overall attendance this month will earn a special class reward! Let’s keep the momentum going, Stallions — every day counts! 💪🐴

After reading the story Dear Dragon, about a dragon and a human unknowingly being pen pals, Mrs. Settle’s third graders teamed up with students in Mrs. Wheeler’s class for a pen pal project. Each student chose a code name and exchanged three letters. At the reveal, students wore dragon masks or necklaces and finally got to meet their pen pals.

Mrs. Clark’s First Grade is starting October off thinking like scientists! Our young scientists explored dissolving pumpkins to make observations and ask questions about what happens. We also got hands-on in our “kitchen lab,” making Pumpkin Fluff by practicing sequencing skills using a recipe.
It’s been a fantastic start to October—full of curiosity, discovery, and a little pumpkin fun!

Miss Mahokey’s class celebrated awesome behavior and the end of their Virginia Studies unit on the Native Americans with a breakout with Mrs. Dugger! Students used teamwork, problem solving skills, and their knowledge of Virginia Studies, to solve clues and unlock locks to earn a prize! All teams were successful and had a great time! They can’t wait to come back and do another one soon!

As Mrs. Vasil's class continued to learn about Civics and the government, they were able to use their interactive social studies notebook. The students learned more about the 3 branches of government with a flipbook to help them remember what each branch does. Under each branch in their notebook is a small summary of what each branch does and who is included. This hands on manipulative is a great way for students to get creative while taking notes. The students loved being able to get creative while learning.

Students in Mrs. Koch's class often visit Deputy Mack at his desk to read to him and practice their fluency skills. You'll often see him helping students work through tricky words and celebrate their small victories. Deputy Mack wanted to return the kindness so he visited Mrs. Koch's class and read them one of his favorite Dr. Seuss classics! Thank you, Deputy Mack, for all you do for our students!

Mrs. Bopp's second graders have been having a blast so far this year! From exploring the properties of magnets to enjoying ice cream for being the Reflex green light winners for the month of August, I would say these second graders are off to a great start!

Ms. Huntt’s 5th grade scientists had a blast learning about mixtures and solutions in their Matter unit! 🍋🥤 Students whipped together some lemonade to see a solution in action and made a tasty trail mix to explore a mixture. The verdict? “This was the BEST class ever!” 🌟

Mrs. Thornhill's students are learning all about plane figures! They explored composing shapes and played a new and exciting game called Backwards BINGO, where everyone got to take turns being the teacher!
