Thursday, October 31st - Costume Day (Costumes may not include masks or props and students must be able to participate in normal classroom activities while wearing their costumes)
Friday, November 1st - Pajama Day
Looking ahead, school will be closed on November 5th for a Teacher Workday.

Students being dropped off this morning were greeted by some special guests from the CCHS Blue Devils football team!
Emerald Hill families are invited to attend tonight's CCHS football game. We will be having a tailgate gathering from 6-8pm on the track. Every student that attends will receive a free book and a candy bar from the concession stand. The game starts at 7pm and tickets are $8 at the gate.

Last night, Emerald Hill students Miranda Sutton and Harper Loch were recognized for placing 1st and 2nd place in the American Legion 2024 Poppy Poster Contest by the local chapter of the American Legion. We are so proud of our Eagles!

Next week is Red Ribbon Spirit Week! Show your school spirit and support healthy choices by participating in a fun spirit day each day! On "vs." days, students should choose a side for some friendly competition. The winning side will be announced at the end of the day!

We would like to give a huge thank you to all of our families for supporting the PTO’s Fun Run! We had such a fun time on Friday!
Last year Emerald Hill started a collaboration project with NexTrex. We are still collecting plastic bags in hopes to collect enough plastic bags that NexTrex will donate a plastic bench to us made from the bags we collect. The collection box is in the main lobby for plastic bags. We will be collecting bags for a few more months. Thank you for your support on this project.
This coming week is Transportation Appreciation Week. If your child rides a bus to or from school, please help us thank our amazing bus drivers for all they do to ensure our children get to and from school safely!
This Friday we are teaming up with CCHS again to host an EHE tailgate for students and families at their home football game on October 25th. The tailgate will be from 6-8pm and the Blue Devils will reserve a spot on the inside of the track for us to set up! The game starts at 7pm. Every student that attends will receive a free sports-related book and a free candy bar from the concession stand. Tickets for the game are $8 at the gate. We look forward to seeing many of our families there!

Huge thank you to everyone who donated to help the hurricane victims in North Carolina! The Emerald Hill donations are going to be delivered this weekend to those in need.


Congratulations to CCHS student Eliza Bowler and EHES student Miranda Sutton for winning 1st place in the State in the American Legion 2024 Poppy Poster Contest. They were both recognized at tonight's School Board meeting and will also be recognized by Post 330 later this month!

Our PTO will be having a spirit night at Steak N’ Cheese Please on Tuesday, October 15th. We hope you are able to join us to enjoy a yummy meal with your family.
The PTO Fun Run Fundraiser is off to a great start! Thank you to all of our families that have either donated or found sponsors for the fundraiser! We have a goal of raising $40,000. We have two safety drills we will be participating in this coming week. We will be practicing a fire drill and an earthquake drill. Please take a moment to review drill safety with your children.

Attention Emerald Hill families! Tomorrow is National Stop Bullying Day! Wear orange to help raise awareness about bullying and encourage individuals to take action to prevent it. Students will also be helping to make a school wide stop bullying paper chain to be hung in the front lobby.

This year, the PTO's goal is to finish the newest playground space with rubber playground tiles.
Long term, the PTO has plans for a multi-phase playground make-over for all of the playgrounds at the school to enhance the outdoor spaces for all students.

On Wednesday, October 9th, we will be having a spirit day: Stop Bullying Day. October 9th is National Stop Bullying Day and to celebrate we are encouraging our students to wear orange. Also on Wednesday, our amazing school counseling team will be coordinating with teachers to discuss what bullying is, how students can report it, and creating a kindness chain to go around the school.
The end of our first grading period is Thursday, October 10th. School will be closed on October 11th for a Teacher Workday.
Tickets for the Trunk or Treat event are no longer for sale and tickets will not be sold at the event. All money was due by Friday, October 4th. If you’ve already purchased a ticket to our Trunk or Treat event for Friday, October 11th, we look forward to celebrating the fun with you from 6:00-7:30pm.

Our library will be hosting our annual book fair October 1st through October 8th. Information about the book fair came home this past week. Students will shop on their Library resource day. We are super excited for our annual Trunk or Treat event that is coming up on Friday, October 11th. Information about the Trunk or Treat was sent home with students last week. We are still in need of trunkers! If you are interested in being a trunker, forms and money for wrist bands need to be turned in by October 4th so we can plan accordingly. If your child would like to participate as a treater, forms and payment need to be turned in by October 4th. Tickets for Trunk or Treat will not be sold at the event. Please see the attached flier and forms if you have any questions.
Our PTO’s fundraiser, the Fun Run, will kick off on October 1st! The Fun Run will be held on October 18th. The PTO is looking for a few volunteers to help on the day of the event. Smile Time Dental clinic will be visiting Emerald Hill on October 28th. Information about the program was sent home this past week. If you would like your child to participate in the program, please complete the forms and turn them in by Friday, October 18th.
