Big thanks to everyone who donated to the PTO Fun Run Fundraiser! Yesterday, the eagles who brought in the most donations received some awesome rewards! The top 4 earning students from the school got to have lunch on the roof with Dr. Gelbert and Mrs. Lane, while the top earning student from each class got to go on a limo ride!
Attention Eagle families! This Thursday our students will see a presentation from the Harlem Wizards in our own gym. If you want more basketball fun, come to EVHS Thursday night at 7PM to watch CCPS teachers take on the Harlem Wizards! Hope to see you there!

We have some exciting things happening at Emerald Hill this week!
On Thursday, the Harlem Wizards will be coming by Emerald Hill for a presentation for our students. We are looking forward to hosting the short presentation and providing our students with this fun opportunity. The Harlem Wizards will be playing a full game, with some CCPS staff, on Thursday, October 19th at Eastern View High School at 7pm. If you’re interested in attending Eastern View’s Harlem Wizard fundraiser, more information can be found on their athletic website at easternviewathletics.com.
Also, this coming Friday is our Trunk or Treat event. Ticket sales are complete at this time, but we look forward to seeing all of our students that pre-purchased tickets at our Trunk or Treat on Friday from 6-7:30pm.
The four FFA chapters within the middle and high schools in Culpeper County are collectively hosting a Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 21st from 10am-2pm on the lawn at Eastern View High School. There will be free pumpkins for the first 50 children. The festival will include a variety of educational stations revolving around agricultural topics along with fun and games. Feel free to join them for some fun and free fall activities.

Did you know that CCPS is hiring substitute teachers and paraeducators? We offer monthly orientation sessions for you to get started. This is a great way to make some extra money and work a flexible schedule. Rates vary from $126 - $183 per day. Our next orientation session is on October 25th so apply today at culpeperschools.org
Last week, Mrs. Kaminski's 5th graders practiced their geology skills by creating models of the Earth's layers using playdoh.

We are super excited for our Trunk or Treat that is coming up on Friday, October 20th. Information about the Trunk or Treat was sent home with students last week. We are still in need of trunkers! If you are interested in being a trunker, forms and money for wrist bands need to be turned in by October 11th so we can plan accordingly. If your child would like to participate as a treater, forms and payment need to be turned in by October 13th. Tickets for Trunk or Treat will not be sold at the event. If you have any questions, or need additional forms, please contact the office to assist you.
For this week, our PTO will be having a spirit night at Steak N Cheese Please on Tuesday, October 10th. We hope you are able to join us to enjoy a yummy meal with your family.
The end of our first grading period is Thursday, October 12th and we will have no school for students on Friday, October 13th. School will be closed on October 13th for a Teacher Workday.

The Book Fair is coming to the library this week. The fair will run from Monday, October 2nd, through Monday, October 9th. Students will shop on their library resource day. Information was sent home this past week. Thank you in advance for supporting our school library!
Our EHE tailgate for students and families at CCHS’ home football game is this Friday, October 6th. The tailgate will be from 6-8pm and the Blue Devils will reserve a spot on the inside of the track for us to set up! The game starts at 7pm. CCHS has agreed to let our students run onto the field after the players at the beginning of the game again this year! This was such a fun experience last year and I’m already looking forward to it again this year! Also, every student that attends will receive a free sports-related book and a free candy bar from the concession stand. Tickets for the game are $8 at the gate. We hope to see you and your families there!

Mrs. Robert's 1st graders were visited by a special guest, Mrs. Peterson, who came to share some music, dance, language, and art for Hispanic Heritage Month.
The EHE Trunk or Treat will be held on October 20th. Forms went home in your student's backpacks this week. We are looking for families to set up decorated trunks for the event! Every Friday, Mrs. Hoffman's 4th graders participate in a weekly STEM challenge. Last Friday, they built structures using mini marshmallows and toothpicks.

Thank you to all of our families that came to our Back to School Night. It was a fun night and I loved seeing all the creative activities the teachers had for the kids! A huge thank you to Kona Ice who donated $280 from all that you purchased!
Our SCA has voted on our next spirit day, 80’s Day. Students will be able to wear 80’s attire to school on Friday, September 29th.

Due to potential impacts from the impending tropical storm, all CCPS activities scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2023 and Sunday, September 24, 2023 will be canceled.
Friday night activities will continue as scheduled.
Some of the Blue Devils football team visited Emerald Hill this morning to greet students as they were dropped off! Big thanks to these student athletes for helping start our day with a smile.
Our 4th grade eagles have been busy! 4th graders have been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and making salt dough maps of Virginia to study the different regions of our state!
